    HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

    January 7, 2016

NEW CONFINED SPACE TRAINING COURSE ADDRESSES UPDATED STANDARDS

Every year, hundreds of employee deaths and thousands of injuries occur in and around confined spaces.

In 1993 OSHA addressed these hazards in the Permit-Required Confined Spaces Standard for General Industry. Its May 2015 Confined Spaces in Construction Standard extends similar protections to workers in the construction industry.

The new Standard also clarifies many points in the earlier General Industry rule. And depending on the tasks their workers will be performing in the Permit Space, many employers that don’t normally consider themselves to be in the construction business, may find that the Construction Standard applies to them, as well.

The Confined Space Entry training program provides employees with current facts on confined space hazards; how a Permit Space Program reduces these risks; what roles they may play in a confined space entry; how to keep themselves and their co-workers safe inside, and more.

The Confined Space Entry Compliance Manual provides employers with instructions on building their own Permit-Space Program; complying with the OSHA Standards; employee training, and more. By addressing the Confined Spaces Standards for both general industry and construction, the Manual provides answers to questions employers will have about any type of activity in their confined spaces.

The newly updated Confined Space Course is now available in English with Spanish to follow shortly. The course is also available on DVD, interactive CD-ROM format, online/SCORM and VOD/video streaming delivery.

JUST RELEASED! ARC FLASH TRAINING COURSE

Arc flash is a violent release of electrical energy that causes severe injuries and fatalities through extreme heat and blast effects. Shock can cause burns, internal injuries, cardiac arrest and even death.

It is crucial that Employers ensure their workers understand these hazards and know how to avoid them.

Arc Flash provides non-technical employees with a basic knowledge of what arc flash is; what its hazards are; and what steps they can take to prevent accidents and injuries involving it. The program also describes procedures that workers should use to protect themselves and their coworkers from electric shock.

The Arc Flash training course is now available in English with Spanish to follow shortly. The course is also available on DVD, interactive CD-ROM format, online/SCORM and VOD/video streaming delivery.

NOW AVAILABLE! ONLINE SAFETY TRAINING AND TRAIN THE TRAINER E-LEARNING COURSES

Just launched are two interactive, self-paced training courses for the Oil and Gas Industry. These include:

    • Hazard Awareness and Identification
    • Train the Trainer Series

A majority of incidents in the oil and gas industry occur due to poorly executed HIRAs.  It’s for this reason that a systematic approach to identifying hazards and managing risk is absolutely essential and exactly why HIRA should always be placed at the forefront of all work activities.

It is recommended that any employee involved in this critical activity should complete a Hazard Awareness & Identification e-learning course, whether for the first time or as a refresher.  Upon successful completion of our newly launched course, your personnel will learn the methods to recognise hazards, control risks and understand their roles and responsibilities in keeping safety a priority.

The Train the Trainer Series provide your Trainers with the skills and knowledge to successfully deliver Control of Work and HSE training to your workforce directly on site.

Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Permit to Work, Isolations, Working at Height and Confined Space Entry are examples of Control of Work topics that are included in the Train the Trainer series.  Our specialized teams will work with your Trainers to ensure that they not only understand the technical detail of the topic and how it relates to your Control of Work processes on site, but they understand and practise how to deliver it in the best way possible to maximize knowledge retention and application on site.
